Holiday Homes Costa Del Sol Spain

The most well known and most popular tourist destination in Spain is the Costa Del Sol. With plenty of holiday and rental housing, this part of Spain is not only a great location, it has some of the best properties available as well. The Costa Del Sol runs from approximately Sotogrande through Malaga and to Nerja. From there the Costa Almeria picks up and other coastal destinations are located further to the north and east. The weather in this part of Spain is ideal for vacationers, with over 300 days of sun a year. The winters are temperate, with average daytime temperatures of about 16º C and the summers are warm and dry. Daily highs in the summer months average about 30º C.

Malaga is the population and geographical center of the Costa del Sol, with about 560,000 residents in the city itself. Malaga has a rich and diverse history, beginning with the Phoenicians who founded the city thousands of years ago. Malaga is home to some of the finest Moorish architecture in Spain as well as historic sites that span the ages. Some of the more famous historic sites include La Alcazaba, a military fortress built by the Moors, the Gilbralfaro Castle and the Roman Theatre. Pablo Picasso’s home and museum are quite popular as the famous artist hailed from this city, and there are a number of ornate and historic churches.

With such rich culture and a booming population, finding a place to stay in Malaga is easy. The city is located right on the Mediterranean coastline, so anyplace in town will provide east access to the beach and water. Quiet neighborhoods and trendy spots all have their own attraction and properties.

The major cities in Andalucia, including the ones along the coast, all have festivals throughout the year. Malaga has its festival the third week in August, Marbella the second week in June, Estepona the first week in July, and Torremolinos the last week in September.

Of course the major attraction here is the beaches, and there are some spectacular ones along this stretch of Spanish Coast. Beaches around Malaga include La Malagueta and Caleta. There are 161 kilometers of coastline, most of with great beaches, so it is impossible to list them all, but a few of the most popular ones include the Playa del Cristo in Estepona, the Playa Nueva Andalucia in Puerto Banus, La Cala Beach in Los Doradas and the Playa Calahonda in Nerja. So much coastline and so many beaches will make it easy for the holiday traveler to find exactly the property that will fit every need. Large or small, on the beach or near the nightlife there are many properties available.

There are 39 golf courses along the Costa del Sol at last count, so if you want to enjoy some fun on the course on your vacation or holiday, this is the place to do so. This many courses for the golfer makes it easy to find a place to stay that is near your favorite course.

The major airport for the Costa del Sol is Malaga International Airport (AGP), located 6 km. west of the city. Currently 23 airports in the UK have flights to Malaga, so getting here is not a problem. There is also an international airport at Almeria (LEI) and Grenada (GRX) which are fairly close to the Costa del Sol. There is a train terminal in Malaga and RENFE, the national train service, connects from all over Spain.
